It is. (I just found it on netflix) it is freakin... creepy how well he plays Dahmer. I have a fascination with serial killers. Yes, I realize I am a freak. Anyhoo Dahmer always stuck me as the most... humane of the serial killers... and the most pathetic. Renner playing him... gives me chills with his accuracy (so far).
I'm about a half an hour into it... and I am enjoying it even if they are (thankfully) fudging a few facts
OMG, I have a thing for serial killers too! Well, you know what I mean. :) Not a thing, but a fascination. I just read a book called "The Road Back from Hell," which was about the Wineville murders--possibly the second most horrible thing I ever read, the first being about the Shanda Sharer murder. But I totally agree, Dahmer was pretty pathetic. Unlike a lot of serial killers, you can almost see the person inside and where he started to got horribly wrong. I'll have to download the Renner movie when I get a chance!
My family has labeled me a potential threat and scary because of my fascination.
So far the facts fudged in Dahmer is the ages of some of the boys (they made them older) and it is not a from beginning to end type. It sort of jumps around starting with the Asian boy who almost got Dahmer caught and then going back in time... but it's Renner's eyes and body language that just gives you the creeps. VERY different from Hawkeye. Not a movie I would suggest to someone who just wants to see Hot Renner. If they haven't semi-studied and at least seen one interview with Dahmer the movie would be sub-par at best.
I will have to see if I can those books the next time I go to Dallas. Looking for them here raises eyebrows. (Small Town. XS)
